Morgantown, West Virginia – Former West Virginia Mountaineers defensive lineman Ahkeem Mesidor has found a new home. Mesidor, a 6’2 270 pound junior from Ottawa, Ontario, has chosen to play for the Miami Hurricanes.
Mesidor had 70 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in 22 games in two seasons with the Mountaineers. In addition, Mesidor was a freshman All-American.
Mesidor previously said that he left for West Virginia because he wanted to play defensive end and he will fit in perfectly at that position in Miami’s 4-3 defense. Mesidor also said that he didn’t feel safe on campus in Morgantown after he made his announcement that he was leaving the school and entering the transfer portal. His former teammate, Saint McLeod, being stabbed at a local bar was also a concern for Mesidor.
Best of luck to an outstanding young man who has an incredible future. Once a Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer!
