Morgantown, West Virginia – It’s now official!  Former West Virginia Mountaineers starting pitcher Alek Manoah has been called up from the AAA Buffalo Bison to the Toronto Blue Jays and will pitch tomorrow night at 7:05PM against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium!

Today, Manoah said that he’s ready and feels confident about his first big league start: “It’s amazing, man. Obviously, the team has confidence in me to throw me into the fire and I’m ready to go, man. As long as that mound is still 60 feet, 6 inches, we’ve got a shot.”

In three minor league starts this season, Manoah is 3-0, with 0.50 ERA, 27 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched and a WHIP (Walks + hits / IP) of 0.556 with the Buffalo Bison in AAA.

As a junior at WVU in 2019, Manoah finished with a 9-4 record, 144 strikeouts and a 2.08 ERA – all of which earned him an unanimous Big 12 Pitcher of the Year award.
