Morgantown, West Virginia – Former West Virginia University pitchers have been on quite a roll lately! Last night, John Means threw his first career no-hitter for the Baltimore Orioles against the Seattle Mariners.
Tonight, former Mountaineers pitcher Alek Manoah pitched in his first AAA game and was absolutely terrific in his debut! Manoah, who now plays for the Buffalo Bisons (the Toronto Blue Jays AAA affiliate), pitched 6 innings in his first game with the team, allowing only 2 hits, 0 walks and an incredible 12 strikeouts!
Manoah finished his junior season at WVU his junior year with a 9-4 record and a 2.08 ERA over 16 starts, compiling 144 strikeouts. Following his junior season, Manoah entered the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft, where he was picked 11th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Congratulations on an incredible debut, Alek!
