All-time Great Coaches Congratulate Bob Huggins

Morgantown, West Virginia – Bob Huggins joined an incredible group of coaches yesterday when he reached 900 career wins.  Only six coaches have ever done that, and the three coaches with more wins than anyone in the history of the game, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski all congratulated Huggins on his accomplishment.

Roy Williams said the following: “Bob Huggins, congratulations, big fella.  Everybody thinks this game is easy to coach, but you and I both know it’s not.  I’ve been to your practices, I’ve seen you coach a lot and I have a tremendous amount of respect for you. We’re good friends, you tease me all the time, and I love that.  In my mind, every kid that plays for you is very lucky to have you as their coach.  900 wins, congratulations, big fella!”

Jim Boeheim will face Huggins tomorrow when the Mountaineers play Syracuse in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.  Boeheim took time out to congratulate Huggins, saying, “Congratulations, Coach Huggins.  One of the best to ever do it.  900 wins and many more to come.  I just hope I’m not the next victim.  Congratulations to a great coach and a funny guy.”

Duke’s head coach, Mike Krzyzewski, also said that Bob Huggins is one of the best ever:  “Huggs, congratulations on 900.  No one in our business does this any better than you, my friend.  I’m very, very happy for you and I’m proud of how well you represent West Virginia.  Congratulations!”
