Army Wants to Play West Virginia in Liberty Bowl

Morgantown, West Virginia – After Tennessee had to back out of the Liberty Bowl due to COVID issues, West Virginia is now looking for another opponent for the December 31st game.

According to Brett McMurphy, one team is ready to step in and replace Tennessee: “Army has told Liberty Bowl it will replace Tennessee but the Black Knights are still waiting for the matchup versus West Virginia to be accepted by the Liberty Bowl and WVU, sources said.”

Army finished 9-2 this season and their unique flexbone triple option offensive attack would be difficult to prepare for with only ten days until game day.  Stay tuned for more information on this potential game as it becomes available.
