With the Memorial Day weekend finally arriving, the first of the 2021 College Football preview magazines are hitting stores. Athlon Sports, which produces arguably the most popular magazine, released theirs earlier this week.
The outlet includes a prediction for all 130 FBS teams, including our Mountaineers. According to Athlon, the Mountaineers will finish the 2021 season with a 7-5 record, 4-5 in conference and 3-0 non-conference.
For West Virginia’s postseason, they have Neal Brown and his squad making a return trip to Memphis, Tennessee to play in the Liberty Bowl. This time it will be against a familiar opponent of Brown’s in the Kentucky Wildcats.
Brown not only coached at Kentucky as their offensive coordinator in the early 2010s, but also spent the majority of his playing career there before transferring to UMass.
We are now 99 days to kickoff for West Virginia. Their first game will take place in College Park, Maryland against the Maryland Terrapins. Kickoff was set for 3:30 p.m. yesterday in an official announcement from the school. The game will broadcast on ESPN.
