MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, former Drake guard Atin Wright entered the transfer portal following the departure of his former head coach, Darian DeVries, to West Virginia.
Wright, a 6’1 junior from Hawthorne, California, averaged 14.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from three point range at Drake last season. Wright transferred to Drake last season from Cal State Northridge, where he averaged 16.7 points per game.
Although it’s early, West Virginia is expected to be a favorite to be the destination where Wright lands. Wright’s teammate, Tucker DeVries, the two-time Missouri Valley Player of the Year and Darian DeVries’ son, is also already rumored to be following Coach DeVries to West Virginia. If both Wright and DeVries transfer to West Virginia, it will be a fantastic start to rebuilding the Mountaineers basketball program!
