Baylor Could Be Without Its Best Player Against West Virginia

Morgantown, West Virginia – When the 13-3 West Virginia Mountaineers play the #5 ranked Baylor Bears tomorrow evening, Baylor could be without its top player.

James Akinjo, a 6’1 senior point guard, leads the Bears in scoring, assists, steals and minutes per game this season. However, Akinjo suffered a hard fall in Baylor’s 61-54 loss to Oklahoma State and is listed as a game time decision/day to day.

In addition, Jeremy Sochan, a 6’9 freshman forward who averages 7.9 points and 5.9 rebounds, is also listed as day to day with an ankle injury and could miss the game.

Baylor head coach Scott Drew said today that he doesn’t know if either will be available and both of their statuses will be determined by how they are able to perform in practice.

West Virginia and Baylor will meet tomorrow evening at 5:00PM at the WVU Coliseum. The game will be shown live on ESPN2.
