Bear McWhorter, Cousin of Brodie McWhorter, Re-Opens Recruitment

Morgantown, WV – After Brodie McWhorter committed to WVU, it was widely speculated that his cousin, Bear, could potentially follow him to the Mountain State. Bear is a 2025 Rivals four star offensive line prospect that has caught the eye of many programs around the nation. Originally, he had committed to the University of Arkansas.

McWhorter, a 6’4 280 pound offensive lineman from Cartersville, Georgia, has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee, West Virginia and virtually ever major program in the country.

Moments ago, Bear officially re-opened his recruitment, adding fuel to the speculation that he will land in Morgantown.

Bear officially de-committed from Arkansas in a statement that claims he did so to “take more time and rest assure” he makes the right decision.

After Brodie’s commitment to WVU, Bear was seen replying to a post suggesting that he could follow him to WVU. Now with his recruitment open again, this seems like the likely scenario that will play out. Brodie and Bear are very close and Brodie’s early decision to play for the Mountaineers could potentially sway his cousin Bear to follow.

In addition, minutes after Bear announced that he was de-committing from Arkansas, Brodie posted the following message on social media: “Mountaineer fans, I’ve said this since I committed” with the quote, “For me to succeed I need to have the best guys around me. I’ve already put the recruiting cap on. It’s going to be real fun for the next year and a half to build the best class.”
