Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers (2-2) travel to Austin, Texas to play the Texas Longhorns  (2-2) this Saturday, October 1st in a huge game for both teams.

West Virginia is coming off a big 33-10 road victory over rivals the Virginia Tech Hokies. Texas, on the other hand, was upset in a 37-34 overtime loss to Texas Tech.

Both head coaches – West Virginia’s Neal Brown and the Longhorns’ coach Steve Sarkisian – have both faced harsh criticism and are on the hot seat, which makes this game even more important for both teams.

The betting line was released moments and the Mountaineers are early underdogs on the road. Texas opened as a 9.5 favorite to beat West Virginia.

It’s unclear whether Texas will have their starting quarterback, Quinn Ewers, the former #1 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, who suffered an SC joint sprain in the second week of the season against Alabama. Ewers was expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, but dressed and didn’t wear a brace yesterday against Texas Tech.
