According to Andrea Adelson of ESPN, the Big 12 has officially announced a partnership with Quidel to secure rapid testing for the 2020 season.
The program, “Quidel Rapid Antigen,” will give teams results of each player’s COVID-19 test in only 15 minutes. Edward Stewart, the executive associate commissioner for the Big 12, stated Friday that the rapid tests will help the league have “consistent, conference-wide protocols,” per Adelson.
Teams are currently required to test at least three times a week. The new rapid antigen tests will be required to be administered the day before competition.
