Morgantown, West Virginia – West Virginia’s legendary head coach Bob Huggins is in attendance at Metro Hoops Classic right now to watch one player and one player only.
That player is Cooper Flagg, a 15 year old 2025 five star prospect who is the very best player in the nation at his age. Flagg, a 6’8 forward from Newport, Maine, is considered the #1 player in the 2025 recruiting class and is already gaining offers from the top programs in college basketball.
As Huggins said recently, “If you don’t try for the top recruits, you have no chance of getting them.”

Flagg holds offers from Duke, Iowa, Michigan, UCLA and West Virginia. Flagg recently said the following about his recruitment: “It’s going by really quick,” Flagg told ZagsBlog. “I’m just living in the moment and continuing to stay working in the gym.”
Flagg, who said he “just wants to go to a school that’s going to push me to be better and better every day,” thinks West Virginia could be a great fit for him in the future.
“They have a hard coach that’s not going to let you take any plays off,” Flagg said of Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
LeBron James, one of the greatest players in the history of professional basketball, called the “best prospect in high school right now” after watching him in person recently. Flagg is a versatile scorer who can score inside and outside, and is a fierce rim protector on the defensive side of the ball as well.
Although Flagg will have virtually every major program in the nation drooling over him soon, Bob Huggins has gotten in early and the Mountaineers have a real shot at landing him. And it doesn’t hurt that his mom Kelly seems to have a bit of a crush on Bob Huggins! “Awesome! I do love me some Coach Huggins,” she said after learning of West Virginia’s offer to her soon.
Bring him home, Huggs!
