Bob Huggins Isn’t Afraid to Play Any Team, Anytime, Anywhere

Morgantown, West Virginia – The announcement that the West Virginia Mountaineers will replace Tennessee to play Gonzaga in next week’s Jimmy V Classic in Indianapolis is a sure sign that Bob Huggins isn’t afraid to play any team in college basketball, anytime and anywhere in the country.

Bob Huggins believes in this team.  The 2020-2021 version of the Mountaineers are so deep, so versatile, so skilled and so big that Huggins can walk into any gymnasium in America to play any college team in the country, and he will be confident that he can coach his team to a victory.

Gonzaga is a very talented, very well-coached team that is among the best – if not the best – in college basketball right now.  Gonzaga’s head coach Mark Few is one of the most respected coaches in the nation and always has his team ready and prepared to play, and this year’s team is perhaps his best ever.

And yet, Bob Huggins decided that his team is ready to go play the very best on a neutral court on very short notice.  Huggins knows that this team will be right in the mix at the end of the season, and a matchup against Gonzaga – universally regarded as one of the toughest match-ups in basketball – is a perfect way to prepare for any challenge the team may face in March during the NCAA Tournament.

“This is the best roster we’ve had since 2010, there’s absolutely no doubt,” Huggins  recently said. “We got more guys that can make shots, we’ve got athleticism, we’ve got size, this as good of a group as we’ve had since 2010.”

Huggins will find out very quickly if he’s right about his team.  Do they have what it takes to beat the best, or does he have more work to do to have his team ready to be a National Championship contender?

Bob Huggins believes his team is ready right now and he’s willing to play any team, anytime, anywhere to prove it.
