Following WVU’s week two victory over Eastern Kentucky, several outlets have started to include the Mountaineers in their bowl projections. One in particular appears to be the most interesting of them all, as it would pin the Old Gold and Blue up against an old rival.

On Sunday, 247Sports released their updated bowl projections. Brad Crawford, the author of the article, has the Mountaineers meeting up with the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Cheez-It Bowl. Formerly named the Camping World Bowl, it would be West Virginia’s third postseason trip to Orlando in the last five seasons.

The last time WVU and Virginia Tech met on the gridiron, the Hokies came away with a 31-24 victory at FedEx Field. The two are scheduled to meet at Milan Puskar Stadium on September 18, 2021.

The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 28-23-1.
