BREAKING: Mountaineers Land Canadian Transfer

Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers have landed Maine transfer Deshawn Stevens!

Stevens, a 6’2 250 pound linebacker, was taken in the the first round of the 2021 Canadian Football League Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks, the same team that drafted West Virginia star Alonzo Addae.

Both players will now play for the Mountaineers next season and then play professionally for the Redblacks next season.

Stevens was a major player over the years for Maine.  In 2018, he had 120 tackles (17 for a loss), nine sacks, two fumble recoveries. He was named Maine’s top defensive player and led the school to a conference title.
