According to an article from CBS Sports, West Virginia Head Coach Neal Brown is one of the top ten college football coaches under the age of 45.
In the article, Dennis Dodd created a top ten list of coaches under 45 and Brown came in at #10. Dodd said of Brown, “There’s something about Brown. He looks like the Next Great One as a coach who punches above his weight. He has averaged eight wins as a head coach, spending four of those years in the Sun Belt winning at Nebraska and LSU with Troy. A middling 5-7 start with the Mountaineers was actually impressive considering the talent he had on the roster.”
Although Brown started his time with the Mountaineers going 5-7 last season, he was left with a bare cupboard after Dana Holgorsen departed for Houston. In addition, the future is bright in Morgantown. West Virginia currently has the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the Big 12 for the 2021 season.
The others ranked in the top ten in the article were Florida State’s Head Coach Mike Norvell (9), Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin (8), Texas’ Tom Herman (7), UCF’s Josh Heupel (6), P.J. Fleck of Minnesota (5), Boise State’s Bryan Harsin (4), Ohio State’s Ryan Day (3), Georgia’s Kirby Smart (2) and Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley (1).
