Morgantown, WV – Former WVU wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton has suffered a season-ending injury, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. The injury is said to be a torn achilles tendon, one of the worst non-contact injuries an athlete can suffer in any sport. The North Carolina native was set to begin his third season with the New York Giants.

Ford-Wheaton was carted off the field today during training camp.

He shared the following on his X profile:

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t devastated! I did everything by the book! Didn’t take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year. I’m not sure why me but I promise I’m not going out on these terms. It’s a long road ahead for sure but I know this is just part of Gods plan for me no matter how tough it may seem right now. Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in them. I WILL be back that’s a promise!! God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!”

During his four seasons with the Mountaineers, Ford-Wheaton tallied 143 receptions for 1,867 yards and 15 touchdowns. He made 45 appearances for West Virginia.

This is devastating news for Ford-Wheaton as he was just beginning to get his feet under him in the NFL. Fans all across the Mountain State wish him a speedy recovery.
