Charles Woods Finds New School

Former WVU defensive back Charles Woods entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on November 19th prior to WVU’s 48-31 loss to Kansas State. It was a move that many saw as tasteless, and Coach Neal Brown even appeared to be displeased with the timing of it.

Earlier this evening, Woods officially announced where he will be taking his talents. The highly-graded Pro Football Focus defender will be playing for Southern Methodist University when things kick off in 2023.

For his WVU career, Woods finished with 36 tackles (2 for loss) and 2 interceptions. His 2022 season was limited due to an injury he suffered during the season opener against Pitt (appeared in only four games).

SMU will be Woods’ third school, as he transferred to Morgantown from Illinois State.

Woods was Preseason First-Team All-Big 12.
