Dana Holgorsen Agrees to Multi-Year Extension

Morgantown, West Virginia – Following a 12-2 record and a a 17–13 Birmingham Bowl victory over Auburn, the Houston Cougars and head coach Dana Holgorsen have agreed to a multi-year extension.

Holgorsen, 50, had an original contract that was scheduled to run through the 2023 season, where he would make $4.2 million this upcoming season and $4.3 million in 2023.

Holgorsen had the following to say about his new contract: “I’ve heard that there’s been an agreement. This is a long-term deal. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be at the University of Houston and I plan on this being my last job. There’s a lot of big things in store with conference transition and so it was important to me to get this done. I’m excited to be a Houston Cougar!”

Houston join the Big 12 Conference 2023. Holgorsen is 19-15 in three seasons at Houston after his time at West Virginia, where he had a 61-41 record in eight seasons.
