MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, West Virginia head basketball coach Darian DeVries released a statement after the Mountaineers were snubbed and not chosen to play in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, DeVries had nothing to say about his future with the program. Here´s what Coach DeVries had to say tonight:
¨Obviously we are extremely shocked, saddened and disappointed with not being selected for the NCAA Tournament. We strongly believe that we have a resume that is worthy of an NCAA Tournament team. I am incredibly proud of this team and what they accomplished. They poured their hearts into this season and put all their collective efforts into making the NCAA Tournament, and I believe they did that.¨

Many believe that West Virginia was snubbed after finishing the season 19-13 overall in DeVries´ first season with the Mountaineers. What´s interesting with DeVries´ statement is that he didn´t mention his future with the program at all. DeVries is currently rumored to be the favorite to become the next head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes. With all of the rumors circulating about a potential move to Iowa, it´s interesting and somewhat surprising that DeVries didn´t address it, which will obviously lead to even more speculation.
Although it´s unclear at this time what DeVries will do in the future, not discussing his future with the program in this statement certainly won´t ease the concerns of Mountaineer fans.
