MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — According to 247´s Hawkeyes Insider Sean Bock, West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries is scheduled to meet with the University of Iowa today to discuss the Iowa head coaching position.

According to Bock, ¨the meeting could happen as early as today” and one source said ¨that the meeting is expected to take place in Iowa, but we´re working to confirm that.” Bock went on to add, ¨If financials work out and NIL can be figured out, then there is a lot of interest from DeVries´ party.¨ Bock also added that DeVries´ son, Tucker, is open to the idea of returning home to Iowa to finish out his playing career there.

With that said, DeVries is a loyal coach and may end up staying at West Virginia if the financials don´t work out. Iowa is DeVries´ dream job and it would take him being able to land this one particular position that could pull him away from Morgantown, according to sources.

DeVries, 49, was an assistant at Creighton for 17 years before getting his first head coaching job at Drake, where he stayed for 6 seasons before coming to West Virginia this past season.

DeVries has not hinted publicly one way or the other about whether he´s interested in the postition, but there have been rumblings for weeks that he has kept an eye on the Iowa job for years and that he would have to take it seriously if he was offered the position. Now, with Jonathan Powell leaving the program and entering the transfer portal, and DeVries meeting with Iowa to discuss the position, it seems very likely that he will leave West Virginia University to become the next head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes if everything goes according to plan.

Earlier today, DeVries released a statement, expressing his disappointment in West Virginia not making the NCAA Tournament, but he failed to mention the elephant in the room and discuss his future in Morgantown: ¨I want to reiterate what I said on Sunday that I am incredibly proud of this team and what they accomplished this season. One of our team goals was making the NCAA Tournament and we had a resume worthy of an NCAA Tournament selection. Our guys poured their hearts into the season and all their collective efforts into making the NCAA Tournament. I would like to thank all of Mountaineer Nation for their unwavering support of our team this season.¨
