Earlier this morning, WVU hired Wren Baker from North Texas as their new athletic director. His first major decision will be whether or not to relieve Neal Brown of his duties as head football coach.
Well, it appears a decision has been made on Brown’s future.
To reiterate: Though many expected a potential change at the head coaching position at West Virginia, Neal Brown is believed to be safe and will remain the coach in 2023 barring an unforeseen snag, sources tell @SINow. https://t.co/GFn0M0Bavo https://t.co/la5BjIJ3xB

According to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated, Neal Brown is expected to return as head coach in 2023. However, unforeseen changes could still be at play, though it is unlikely.
Brown just completed his fourth season with the Mountaineers. He has accumulated a 22-25 record, and has yet to win more than six-games in a season with the Mountaineers.
Many expected him to be fired following the decision to split with former Athletic Director Shane Lyons, but it appears Baker will give him one season under his watch. Should nothing improve in 2023, we should certainly be expecting a change this time next season.
