Derek Culver: Player of the Year

Morgantown, West Virginia – Junior forward Derek Culver has had an outstanding start to the season and his efforts are starting to pay off in the form of big-time individual recognition.

Culver, who is currently averaging 13.9 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 45% from the field and 70% from the foul line, is featured on the KenPom Player of the Year list.

KenPom rankings are based on advanced analysis of college basketball teams and players, and Derek Culver is currently #5 on the website’s Player of the Year list with a 1.314 KPOY Rating.

The only players ahead of Culver currently are Iowa’s Luka Garza (1.815), Trayce Jackson-Davis of Indiana (1.695), Ayo Dosunmu of Illinois (1.546) and Gonzaga’s Drew Timme (1.424).

In addition, the Mountaineers are currently ranked #6 in the Ken Pomeroy Rankings this week after a convincing win over #19 ranked Richmond.
