Doc Holliday Fired

Huntington, West Virginia – Marshall University announced today that Doc Holliday will no longer be the head coach for the Thundering Herd, despite Holliday going 85-54 overall since 2010 and winning this season’s  Conference USA Coach of the Year.

Holliday released the following statement: “I have been informed that Marshall President Dr. Jerry Gilbert will not be extending my contract as Head Football Coach at Marshall University,” Holliday said.

“I am proud of what we accomplished together both academically and athletically,” he continued. “We’ve been able to graduate student-athletes and develop them to their highest potential while competing for championships.”

Holliday was a Graduate Assistant for the Mountaineers from 1979-1982 and a positional coach for West Virginia University from 1983-1999.
