Early Backyard Brawl Spread Has Been Released

Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to play bitter rival Pitt Panthers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on September 1st in the Backyard Brawl.

West Virginia and Pitt will start new quarterbacks this season and both are former teammates at USC. Kedon Slovis transferred to Pitt during the offseason and JT Daniels committed to play for the Mountaineers last week.

Pitt returns virtually its entire roster after an 11-3 overall record and a first place finish in the ACC Coastal division. The Panthers have earned preseason hype as a top ten team and although West Virginia will have a huge amount of fans at the game, it’s still a home game for Pitt.

With that said, the (very) early Week 1 spreads have been released and the Mountaineers will begin the season as 7 point underdogs against Pitt. West Virginia has a lot of question marks on their roster, but in a rivalry game like the Backyard Brawl, anything can (and usually does) happen.
