Morgantown, West Virginia – The Voice of Morgantown has confirmed the report by BlueGoldNews that long-time Bob Huggins’ assistant coach Erik Martin has accepted his first head coaching position at South Carolina State University.
Martin, who has been an assistant under Bob Huggins since 2006, just completed his 15th season as an assistant at West Virginia University. Martin was a standout power forward for Huggins at Cincinnati and graduated there in 1993.
Since coming to West Virginia, the Mountaineers have advanced to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, a Final Four appearance and five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances while totaling 326 victories.
