ESPN Article Claims Jevon Carter Didn’t Play for WVU

Morgantown, West Virginia – Late Saturday night, former West Virginia basketball player Jevon Carter signed a 3 year, $11.5 million contract with the Phoenix Suns.

Carter will now back up the newly-acquired Chris Paul at point guard for the Suns, and this is an ideal spot for Carter at this stage in his career.

What should have been a celebratory moment for West Virginia fans turned into disappointment when ESPN erroneously reported that Jevon Carter played for Texas Tech in college, not West Virginia University.

“The Worldwide Leader in Sports” reported the following late last night: “The former Texas Tech star averaged 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds last season.”

Although this is a relatively minor mistake, West Virginians are extremely proud that Carter played for the Mountaineers and this error was perceived as yet another slight by ESPN against West Virginia.

The only thing that would have been worse, of course, would have been if ESPN claimed Carter played for Pitt.

Regardless, Jevon Carter is a Mountaineer for life and the state of West Virginia couldn’t be any prouder of him.
