Fan Favorite No Longer With Basketball Team

Morgantown, West Virginia – According to a source close to the team, fan favorite Spencer Macke has been cut from the team.

Macke, a 5’11 junior from Fort Thomas, Kentucky, played nineteen minutes over ten games over the last two seasons with the Mountaineers.  Macke averaged 1.1 points per game as a freshman and did not score last season as a sophomore.

Macke is known for getting garbage minutes late in West Virginia home game blowouts after chants of “Macke, Macke, Macke” ring out from the student section.

Macke was an Academic All Big 12 player and on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

“West Virginia Basketball” has been removed from Macke’s social media profile and replaced with “Athlete.”

According to the source, Macke could be welcomed back on the team if/when Miles “Deuce” McBride goes to the NBA.  In addition, sophomore walk-on Jay Moore has reportedly been cut from the team as well.
