Fan Favorite to Return to West Virginia

Morgantown, West Virginia – Spencer Macke, who entered the transfer portal earlier this summer, has decided to return to West Virginia University!

Macke, a 5’11 junior from Fort Thomas, Kentucky, played nineteen minutes over ten games over the last two seasons with the Mountaineers.  Macke averaged 1.1 points per game as a freshman and did not score last season as a sophomore.

Macke told The Voice of Motown the following on his decision: “I withdrew my name from the transfer portal.  The (WVU) coaches called me and wanted me to stay on as an assistant this year and return to the team as a walk-on again next year.”

“I didn’t really have enough time to find anything and I’m going to graduate early this year,” Macke said.  “After talking it over with a couple of the coaches, we decided this would be the best option.  I just bought a house in Morgantown so that’ll be nice.”

Macke is known for getting garbage minutes late in West Virginia home game blowouts after chants of “Macke, Macke, Macke” ring out from the student section.  In addition, he was an Academic All Big 12 player and was on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

It’ll be great to have Spencer Macke back in the Coliseum as he finishes out his collegiate career!
