Former Bob Huggins’ Assistant Fired

Morgantown, West Virginia – Frank Martin, a former assistant coach for Bob Huggins at Cincinnati and Kansas State, was fired today by the University of South Carolina. Martin, 55, was the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2012-2022.

Prior to that, Martin was the head coach at Kansas State from 2007-2012 after Bob Huggins left to become the head coach at West Virginia. Martin served as an assistant under Huggins from 2004-2007 and is considered one of Huggins’ best friends in the coaching business.

South Carolina finished this season 18-13 overall and 9-9 against SEC. He has a 288-201 record as a head coach and a 171-147 career record.

It’s possible that Martin will find another head coaching position, but it’s also a possibility that Huggins will look to add him to his coaching staff as an assistant.
