MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers have already gained commitments from two players who followed new head coach Rich Rodriguez from Jacksonville State – former Martinsburg High School players Jarod Bowie and Jacob Barrick – as well as Tulsa offensive line transfer Walter Young Bear, Jordan Scruggs, a cornerback from South Alabama and Oran Singleton, a wide receiver from Eastern Michigan. However, things are about to get very active and very real for the Mountaineers. According to On3.com’s transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos, West Virginia is set to host one of the top players in the nation available in the portal.
Clemson transfer wide receiver Troy Stellato is scheduled to visit West Virginia on Jan. 5, he tells @On3sports.
The former four-star has 66 career catches for 616 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Troy Stellato, a former four star recruit from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is scheduled to visit Morgantown on January 5th, according to Nakos. Stellato, a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, has 66 career catches for 616 yards and 2 touchdowns during his time with the Clemson Tigers.
“After much thought, prayer and discussions with my family, I have decided to enter my name into the Transfer Portal,” Stellato said in a message posted on his social media account. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced Stellato suffered a season-ending thumb injury leading up to The Citadel game in Week 13. This was Stellato’s third season-ending injury of his career. However, Stellato is now searching for a fresh start, and it may just come as a member of the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Out of high school, Stellato had major praise from 247 Sports’ Director of Scouting Andrew Irvins, who said, “Stellato has above-average length in the arms and is no stranger to the weight room as some bulk already developed across the chest. A reliable pass catcher that spent much of high school career working out of the slot in an air-raid offense. Excellent straight-line speed having gone 4.4 on the lasers in the 40-yard dash the spring before junior season. Jolts out of stance looking to gain ground. Polished route runner that mixes gears well. Not necessarily elusive in the open field, but will weave through traffic and try to power through defenders. Understands how to keep plays alive. Willing blocker. Thrives working the short to intermediate passing game as he consistently moves the chains with slants, drags and swing passes. Will, however, need to expand the route tree once in college if he’s going to get looks on the outside. Must also learn how to beat press coverage. Should develop into a Power 5 starter. NFL potential given speed and hands.”
Rich Rodriguez’s offense is perfect for a slot receiver who wants to develop into an NFL player, and with West Virginia being Stellato’s first visit since entering the transfer portal, it appears this might just be a match made in (Almost) heaven!
