If true, this would be extremely good news for West Virginia, who desperately wants to end up in the ACC alongside their former Big East rivals.
Wannstedt is responsible for perhaps West Virginia’s most devastating loss, a 13-9 upset when the Mountaineers were a 28 and 1/2 point favorite over Pitt. Pitt, as we all know, defeated West Virginia and denied the Mountaineers an opportunity to play for a national championship.
