Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers had one remaining scholarship left and they used it on a former member of the WVU basketball program.

Emmitt Matthews, Jr. is returning to play for West Virginia after one year with the Washington Huskies. Matthews previously played three seasons with the Mountaineers before transferring to play for Washington, where he’s originally from.

Last season with the Huskies, Matthews averaged a career-best 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds. Matthews, a redshirt senior, will have one year of eligibility remaining.
