Morgantown, West Virginia – Kansas (3-0) upset the Houston Cougars, winning 48-30. During the game, former West Virginia wide receiver Sam Brown was involved in an altercation on the sideline with his teammate, Joseph Manjack IV.
Brown was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he retaliated after a Kansas player shoved him. Brown was flagged for his involvement on the field and when he went to the sidelines, Manjack, a leader for Houston, angrily approached him to express his displeasure in Brown costing the team penalty yards.
Brown, a talented sophomore wide receiver who played two seasons for the Mountaineers, responded to his teammate approaching him by grabbing his helmet, and then a brawl ensued.
