Today, the USA Today preseason top 25 rankings were released, and four Big 12 teams made the cut.

Making the list was Oklahoma at no. 6, Texas at no. 14, Oklahoma State at no. 16, and Iowa State at no. 25. All four of these programs are expected to round out the top half of the Big 12 in the upcoming season.

Oklahoma will be breaking in a new quarterback with Spencer Rattler, but Lincoln Riley has proven to be a quarterback whisperer in his short time at Oklahoma. Texas is expected to improve, bringing back a plethora of experience on defense, accompanied with a Sam Ehlinger led offense that should be one of the best in the Big 12. Oklahoma State is possibly the biggest sleeper in the Big 12 returning Heisman Trophy contender Chuba Hubbard to once again be a nightmare for defenses up and down the conference. Iowa State also made the cut, and is hoping to finally have a break through moment under Coach Matt Campbell. Cyclones quarterback Brock Purdy is expected to be a top signal-caller in the offense.

Also included in the rankings was WVU’s arch rival Virginia Tech who is entering the fifth season of the Justin Fuente era.
