MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Last week, we revealed that AMIR JENKINS was in Morgantown, West Virgina on an official visit! Jenkins, a 6’2 guard from Worcester, Massachusetts, is the #1 player in the state of Massachusetts in the 2026 recruiting class. He’s currently the #72 ranked overall player in the nation and the #7 ranked point guard in this class.
Moments ago, it was announced that Jenkins has not only committed to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers but that he will also likely re-classify and join the team this season!

Jenkins had offers from Boston College, East Carolina, Maryland, Providence, USF and many others, and although he is now committed, will certainly continue to hear from several other top programs.
Jenkins recently told ZagsBlog what he’s looking for in a head coach: “I just want it to feel like home,” he said. “A coach that’s always going to be confident with his players, never bringing them down. I’m very coachable, so a little yelling at me isn’t going to bring my confidence down, but I’m just saying to like keep it family. Keep the confidence up of your players.”
Jenkins clearly found the coach he was looking for in Ross Hodge and will now likely step in as a backup point guard behind probable starter, senior Jasper Floyd, who played for Hodge last season at North Texas.
Jenkins joins West Virginia’s current roster, which features Jasper Floyd, Treysen Eaglestaff, Jackson Fields, Jayden Forsysthe, Honor Huff, Brenen Lorient, Chance Moore, Harlan Obioha, Abraham Oyeadier, DJ Thomas, Morris Ugusuk and today’s addition of walk-on Michael “MJ” Feenane.
