MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Four WVU players—Jimmori Robinson, Tye Edwards, Justin Harrington, and Jeffrey (Jeff) Weimer— filed a federal lawsuit against the NCAA seeking a preliminary injunction that would allow them to compete in the upcoming 2025 football season.

They argued the NCAA improperly denied them eligibility waivers and were pursuing injunctive relief in court.

Moments ago, a West Virginia district court judge granted a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to all four players, allowing them to play for the Mountaineers during the upcoming season!

All four transferred to WVU after playing at junior colleges (JUCOs) such as Northern Iowa, UTSA, Washington, Idaho State, etc. They believed they retained eligibility under a blanket NCAA waiver announced in December 2024, which extended eligibility for those who competed at non‑NCAA institutions, and it appears that they will now be granted the opportunity to finish their career this season.

Their lawsuit alleged:

  • Antitrust violations under federal and West Virginia law.

  • Breach of contract, contending that the athletes are third-party beneficiaries of NCAA-member agreements.

They say losing this battle could end their college careers and hinder potential NFL futures. As their attorney stated: “there’s a very short window … they can make a living at it or make any sort of money at it and then hope for a shot in the NFL.”
