Morgantown, West Virginia – Frank Martin, a former assistant coach for Bob Huggins at Cincinnati and Kansas State, was fired last week by the University of South Carolina. Martin, 55, was the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2012-2022.
When Martin was fired, many thought that he could wind up being an assistant for his close friend Bob Huggins at West Virginia University.
However, that will not happen now. Martin has agreed to become the new head coach at UMASS.
Martin and UMASS are finalizing the contract details and an official announcement will be made later today and a press conference will be held early next week.
