Last summer, Virginia offensive lineman, Ja’Quay Hubbard, formally announced his decision to transfer to West Virginia. Today, the former Cavalier began to recruit his old teammate to Morgantown openly on Twitter.

Jowon Briggs, a defensive tackle for the Cavaliers, is now officially in the NCAA transfer portal, per Rivals. Since the announcement, Hubbard has been active all afternoon, giving subtle hints that he wants him in Morgantown.

Hubbard shared a video from the Virginia Football Twitter page of Briggs tallying a sack against Wake Forest, captioning it “he’s in the portal,” while tagging WVU Football in the tweet.

Briggs was a four-star prospect in 2019, according to Rivals. With the Cavaliers, the Cincinnati, Ohio native tallied four sacks to go along with thirty-nine total tackles over one-and-a-half seasons. Briggs was named a midseason All-American by ESPN in 2019.

If Hubbard can help get Briggs to Morgantown, it would be a big boost to WVU’s defensive line who is set to lose Darius Stills at the end of this season.
