Jarret Doege Struggles in First CFL Start

Former WVU Quarterback Jarret Doege started his first career CFL game for the Edmonton Elks on Friday night.

CANADA – Several WVU fans were tuned-in to the CFL contest between the Edmonton Elks and the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night to root on a former Mountaineer.

Jarret Doege, West Virginia’s starting quarterback from 2019 to 2021, started his first career game for the Elks tonight. Despite showing flashes the week before, the Lubbock, Texas native unfortunately struggled to get things going in a 26-7 loss for Edmonton.

On the night, Doege completed 19 of 33 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown to three interceptions. His lone touchdown pass came in the third quarter when the Elks were losing 16-0.

There has been no word on if Doege will be replaced as starter for the Elks’ next game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Stay tuned to The Voice of Motown for updates on Doege’s rookie season in the CFL.
