Salt Lake City, Utah – The Phoenix Suns, who were without newly-acquired Chris Paul at point guard, dropped their preseason opener to the Utah Jazz 119-105.

With Chris Paul out of the lineup, Jevon Carter was given an opportunity to shine, playing 31 minutes (the most by any Suns player) and he had a very solid offensive performance.  Carter finished with 8 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds.

Defensively, Carter was his typical outstanding, ferocious self, causing problems for the Utah Jazz players.  Check out Carter’s full court press which led to a turnover and score for the Suns:

Carter, who recently signed a 3 year contract with the Suns, will back up veteran guard Chris Paul, who is among the best point guards in the league.

The Suns open the NBA regular season next Wednesday, December 23rd at 10:30 PM against the Dallas Mavericks.
