Morgantown, West Virginia – Former West Virginia Mountaineers point guard Jordan McCabe was suspended for the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels’ opening game last night against Garnder-Webb.
UNLV won the game 64-58 but struggled without McCabe. McCabe was suspended by the NCAA for one game for “participating in an unsanctioned event”, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It’s unclear which event McCabe participated in that caused the suspension, but obviously it was an NCAA violation.
McCabe, who transferred from WVU following the 2020-2021 season, averaged 2.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds on 31% from the field last season with the Mountaineers.
McCabe will make his Runnin’ Rebels debut on Saturday at 8:00PM when UNLV hosts California. McCabe is either expected to start at point guard for the team or come off the bench early and play heavy minutes.
