Justin Johnson Jr. Accepts Coaching Job

Morgantown, WV – After entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in December, former WVU Running Back Justin Johnson Jr. has hung up the cleats. Instead of continuing his playing career elsewhere, Johnson has officially joined the coaching ranks at the high school level.

St. Pius X, a Catholic school located in Festus, Missouri, formally announced the addition of Johnson to their coaching staff via social media.

The Missouri native will serve as the school’s running backs coach for the upcoming season.

After a 2023 season that was plagued with injury, and that saw Johnson fall down the depth chart with the emergence of Jahiem White, he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal prior to WVU’s win in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. He finished his Mountaineer career with 670 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. His lone receiving touchdown came in a 41-31 loss to then undefeated TCU in 2022.
