Kansas Head Coach Has Major Praise for West Virginia

Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers (16-13, 5-11) are squarely on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament after losing to the #3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks last night, 76-74.

Bob Huggins believes that despite the Mountaineers’ record, that his team absolutely deserves to be in the NCAA Tournament.  “I don’t think we have anything to worry about,” Huggins said following the game, citing the team’s #1 strength of schedule in the nation.

Kansas head coach Bill Self agreed with Huggins, saying the Mountaineers deserve to play during March Madness.

“Well, you guys saw them play today,” Self said. “Does that look like an NCAA tournament team to you? The answer is an emphatic yes. I mean, they’re good and the league is really hard. The league is really hard and they’re really good.”

Self continued: “The thing about it is, (Kedrian) Johnson when we played Johnson the first time, he was hurting and didn’t play. He makes a huge difference. He’s really good and Mitchell had a great game and of course, Stevenson can score with the best of them.”
