West Virginia wide receiver Keion Wakefield transferred from Louisville in early 2020, and is expected to make an impact in the offense almost immediately. What Wakefield will also be making an impact in this season, however, is on the path to defeating social injustice.

Wakefield tweeted out that he wished to put the name of Breonna Taylor on his jersey in the upcoming season.

Taylor was killed on March 13, 2020 by Louisville Police. The incident happened due to the police having a no-knock search warrant, and Taylor’s boyfriend believing them to be intruders. Breonna was only 26-years old.

Wakefield becomes the first Mountaineer to announce plans for his uniform this season. We should expect several other players to follow suit.
