Kerry Martin Quotes the Quran Following Vic Koenning Departure

Morgantown, West Virginia – Among the issues that sophomore defensive back Kerry Martin, Jr. had with former West Virginia defensive coordinator Vic Koenning was that Koenning tried multiple times to convert him to Christianity.

In his initial message on social media where he accused Koenning of mistreatment, Martin said the following:  “Starting back to Spring Ball 2019 before guys started to transfer, Coach Vic has antagonized Derrek Pitts for believing in something that he didn’t believe.  He would make remarks about the Bible and talk about religion in front of Derrek, making him want to question the things he believed.”

Following the announcement that Koenning and West Virginia University have “mutually decided to separate”, Kerry Martin, Jr. quoted the Quran, the central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God.

The quote from the Quran reads: “Yet have they taken, Besides Him, gods that can Create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; Nor Life nor Ressurection.”

It’s entirely possible that Martin’s timely social media post could have nothing to do with Koenning’s departure.  Or, more likely, Martin is expressing his right to religious freedom and his celebrating “victory” now that his former defensive coordinator is gone.  You be the judge.
