Latest on the Bob Huggins Situation

Bob Huggins is expected to resign from his position as the head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers following his DUI arrest Friday night.

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — According to multiple sources, the decision on Bob Huggins has been made. Aaron Torres of Fox Sports Radio had the following to say about what West Virginia University will do with his legendary head coach: “Understand, a decision has been made. They’re just crossing all the T’s and dotting the I’s with lawyers to avoid litigation.”

West Virginia’s director of athletics, Wren Baker, met with the basketball team earlier this afternoon to inform them of the situation and let them know that a “decision has not yet been made concerning their head coach.” However, this meeting was almost certainly just an effort by Baker to attempt to keep the players together and hopefully not lose any of them to the transfer portal.

In addition, I’ve heard from multiple people that Bob Huggins is likely to meet with the team later today and will announce that he is resigning as the head coach of the program. West Virginia University is said to be giving him the option of resigning or be fired by the university. After Huggins meets with his players, the WVU will likely release a formal announcement on the matter. Obviously things can change, but this is where we stand at the moment.
