Morgantown, WV – The West Virginia Mountaineers are officially in the sweepstakes for a talented gunslinger. According to Steve Wilfong of On3, four-star quarterback Legend Bey has narrowed his list of college choices to five. The Mountaineers, who have been in the market for Bey for several months, were included on his list.

Also included on his list of top schools were Tennessee, Texas A&M, Duke, and Ohio State.

Bey, a four star quarterback from Forney, Texas, is one of the most athletically gifted players in the 2026 class and has offers from Notre Dame, Duke, Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M and many, many others.

According to his high school athletic profile on 247 Sports, Bey “also runs track. Attended Frisco (Texas) Reedy and Frisco (Texas) Lone Star before moving to Mesquite (Texas) Horn prior to his sophomore football season. Moved to Forney (Texas) North Forney prior to his junior football season. Ran sophomore 100-meter times of 10.70 and 10.98, per MileSplit. Also a member of Mesquite Horn’s 6A regional-qualifying 4×200 relay.”

During his junior season, Bey had 1,444 passing yards, 1,912 rushing yards, 41 touchdowns, and was the 10-6A Class Offensive MVP in the state of Texas.  In an offense like Rich Rodriguez’s, Bey would be absolutely dynamic, and Rodriguez and his staff have made Bey a real priority in this class. Bey is shifty, fast and has a cannon for an arm. While other schools are offering Bey at other positions, Bey has been told that West Virginia is offering him as a quarterback, which is where he is most gifted.

Bey recently visited Morgantown, West Virginia on an official visit and told me that he absolutely loved what Rodriguez and the Mountaineers had to offer. For West Virginia to be included in this group of college football’s blue bloods is certainly a step in the right direction. If Rich Rodriguez can land Legend Bey, the future will be bright in Morgantown.
