West Virginia is in the middle of a major search for a head coach after Bob Huggins’ resignation. Â
MORGANTOWN, West Virginia —Â According to sources, West Virginia is zeroing in on their next head basketball coach and it just so happens to be one of the greatest basketball minds in basketball.
John Beilein, 70, and West Virginia University are working on an agreement for him to return as the head coach of the Mountaineers. In addition, according to the source, Jose Eilert and Jay Kuntz are expected to remain on the coaching staff.
If this is true and Beilein does return to take over the basketball program, I fully expect his son, Patrick Beilein, to be a part of his coaching staff. Patrick, 40, is a former player at West Virginia and is the current head coach of the Baldwinsville boys varsity basketball team in Baldwinsville, New York.
It’s important that Wren Baker decides on the next head coach soon so that the current players on the team don’t leave the program while waiting for a new coach to be named. Tre Mitchell, a starting forward for the team, is already reportedly in the transfer portal.
Latest Rumor: John Beilein and #WVU working on agreement for him to return as the head coach of the Mountaineers. Josh Eilert and Jason Kuntz, among others, to remain on the staff. Stay tuned…
