MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers this past Saturday, April 22nd at Mountaineer Field in front of a very sparse crowd. Although the conditions weren’t ideal, it was shocking to see the lack of fans in attendance to see the Mountaineers for the first time this season. On a somewhat cold and rainy day, West Virginia’s official attendance was listed as 0, but there appeared to be less than 2,000 people at the game.

In contrast, on the very same day with similar weather conditions, Marshall had 5,577 fans in attendance for their annual Green and Black Spring Game.

West Virginia had over 12,000 people at the game last season with five star quarterback JT Daniels making his debut with the Mountaineers, but the lack of attendance at this year’s event clearly demonstrates the frustration and disappointment with the team’s performance under head coach Neal Brown.
